Correct Answer - Option 1 : 20

Calculation:

Cost price of 10 litre solution = 264 × 100/110 = Rs.240

Cost price of one litre solution = 240/10 = Rs.24

Let cost price of B paint be Rs.a and cost price of A paint be Rs.(a + 8).

As per given condition, highest possible cost of B is when paints A and B are in equal ratio.

Using alligation rule,

⇒ 24 - a : (a + 8) - 24 = 1 : 1

⇒ 24 - a = a - 16

⇒ a = 20

∴ The highest possible cost of B is Rs.20
