Correct Answer - Option 3 : 37 kg

Explanation:

For two monomer unit of 1, 3 butadiene,

\({\rm{Molecular}} = 8 \times \;\frac{{12\;gm}}{{mol}} + 12 \times \frac{{1\;gm}}{{mol}} = 108\)

For two monomer unit, two Sulphur atoms are taken to form cross-linking

∴ Atomic weight of Sulphur = 32 gm/mol

∵ 2 sulphur atoms are used

Now,

\({\rm{Fraction\;of\;Sulphur\;used}} = \frac{{2 \times 32\;gm/mol}}{{2 \times 32\;gm/mol + 108\;gm/mol}}\)

\({\rm{Fraction\;of\;Sulphur\;used}} = \frac{{64}}{{64 + 108}} = 0.37\)

For 100 kg, 37 kg of Sulphur is used.
