  • Pulakeshin was the first sovereign ruler of the Chalukya dynasty of Vatapi. He ruled parts of the present-day Maharashtra and Karnataka states in the western Deccan region of India.
  • Pulakeshin established the city of Vatapi and performed the Ashvamedha sacrifice to assert his sovereign status.
  • Ashoka, also known as Ashoka the Great, was an Indian emperor of the Maurya Dynasty, who ruled almost all of the Indian subcontinent from c. 268 to 232 BCE. The grandson of the founder of the Maurya Dynasty, Chandragupta Maurya, Ashoka promoted the spread of Buddhism across ancient Asia.
  • Chanakya was an ancient Indian teacher, philosopher, economist, jurist, and royal advisor. He is traditionally identified as Kauṭilya or Vishnugupta, who authored the ancient Indian political treatise, the Arthashastra, a text dated to roughly between the 3rd century BCE and the 3rd century CE.
  • Chandragupta Maurya was the founder of the Maurya Empire in ancient India. He was taught and counseled by the philosopher Chanakya, who had great influence in the formation of his empire.
