Statement 1:

The Internet of Things, or IoT, refers to the billions of physical devices around the world that are now connected to the internet, all collecting and sharing data i.e. it extends the communication via internet to all the things that surround us.

Statement 2:

M2M, or machine-to-machine, is a direct communication between devices using wired or wireless communication channels. M2M refers to the interaction of two or more devices/machines that are connected to each other.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical devices embedded with sensors, software and electronics, enabling these devices to communicate with each other and exchange data over a computer network.

Statement 3:

IoT primarily exploits standard protocols and networking technologies. However, the major enabling technologies and protocols of IoT are RFID, NFC, low-energy Bluetooth, low-energy wireless, low-energy radio protocols, LTE-A, and WiFi-Direct.

The major objectives for IoT are the creation of smart environments /spaces and self-aware things (for example: smart transport, products, cities, buildings, rural areas, energy, health, living, etc.) for climate, food, energy, mobility, digital society and health applications.
