Statement (I): Hand-operated chain-hoists included differential screw-geared types within their range.

Statement (II): In case of a hoist-winch, the capacity of the hoist is increased by a number of gear reductions.

1. Both Statement (I) an Statement (II) are individually true and Statement (II) is the correct explanation of Statement (I)
2. Both Statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true but Statement (II) is not the correct explanation of Statement (I)

Correct Answer - Option 2 : Both Statement (I) and Statement (II) are individually true but Statement (II) is not the correct explanation of Statement (I)

Hoisting is the lifting of the material against gravity and maybe done with a range of equipment from the small hand operated simple screw or hydraulic jack to modern high powered cranes and elevators.

Statement I: True

Hand operated chain hoists are screw geared and differential type i.e., they are self-locking and will automatically hold a load in position.

Statement II: True

A winch is designed to pull a heavy load horizontally over a slightly inclined or level surface and hoisting objects, lower is the gear ratio higher is the power.

But Statement (II) is not the correct explanation of Statement (I)
