Concept:

  • To ensure entity integrity constraint each table should have a primary key and primary key value can’t be null.
  • Referential integrity constraints, if a foreign key in Table 1 refers to the primary key of table 2, then every value of the foreign key in table 1 must be null or be present in table 2.


Foreign key must satisfy referential integrity in a relation, while primary key must satisfy entity integrity.
