Correct Answer - Option 1 : Less than unity

Explanation:

Ceramic crystals are mostly ionic, the ionic bond is formed by transfer of electrons.

  • The ion which loses electrons is called Cation and positively charged
  • Due to the attractive force on electrons is more and hence the radius of the cation is smaller than the neutral atom.
  • The ion which gains the electrons called Anion. And negatively charged.
  • Hence the ratio of cation to anion is less than unity.
