Direction: Refer the following carefully and answer the question that follows.

Students of standard 11th at XYZ school scored lower in the chemistry subject than the students of standard 11th scored last year. School officials blamed that this is the result of a cut on the budget which forced to combine several classes and because of that they can not give individual attention to the students which they gave before.

Which of the following, if true, supports the argument?

1. Students of the 12th standard scored better in chemistry than the students of the 12th standard did last year.
2. The test was not more difficult than the test that was taken last year.
3. New books have not been purchased by the school board this year.
4. Other schools of that area also affected by the budget cuts.
5. Students of the other schools also scored less than the previous year in the same test.

Correct Answer - Option 2 : The test was not more difficult than the test that was taken last year.

We don't know which factors affected other schools’ student so, E is not the answer. C and D are irrelevant. We only concerned about 11th standard students so, A is irrelevant. The reason for lower results can be a difficult test. So, B is the answer.
