Though India has a larger population than the USA, its fuel requirements are much lesser than that of the USA. Even when the Industrial usage was not included and the comparison was made solely on the basis of the transportation and domestic requirements, the results were still the same.

The statements above, if true, best support which of the following assertions?

1. The USA is the largest oil producing country in the world.
2. The USA is far more developed than India. Almost the whole population uses fuel for domestic purposes as well as for transportation.
3. There are more industries in the USA than in India that have huge fuel requirements.
4. Indians do not use fuel at all for domestic uses as they still use unsustainable means for cooking.
5. There is no need of fuel in India for transportation.

Correct Answer - Option 2 : The USA is far more developed than India. Almost the whole population uses fuel for domestic purposes as well as for transportation.

The given statements compare the fuel requirements of India and the USA, not the availability and so option 1 cannot be right. Option 3 cannot be considered as right since the industrial requirements were excluded in the statements. Option 4 and 5 do not give plausible explanations as the fuel requirements in India are less but they still exist. It is only option 2 which supports the statements by giving a reasonable explanation that is due to being more developed, more people use those amenities in the USA that require fuel. Hence, option 2 is the correct answer.
