Correct Answer - Option 1 : Short lines

Concept:

There are two methods of voltage control

1. Internal method → Excitation control method

2. External method → Connecting reactive power devices

In the Excitation control method, we increase the excitation of the generator so that terminal voltage will also increase.

But the demerit of this method is that other bus voltage may increase which is not desired.

In the external control method, a piece of suitable equipment is connected to the particular bus whose voltage is to be increased.

The excitation control Method can be used for short lines where the number of buses is less, therefore an increase in Excitation will increase the terminal voltage only.

Therefore correct option is (1)
