Correct Answer - Option 2 : Bronchial asthma

Concept:-

  • Large or medium doses of morphine and other opiates are contraindicated in bronchial asthma.

  • Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness and wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
  • During an asthma attack, the lining of the bronchial tubes (airways) swells, causing the airways to narrow, turning more sensitive to irritants in the environment, and thus reducing the flow of air into and out of the lungs..
  • It is probably caused by the interplay of hereditary and environmental factors like an inherited tendency to develop allergies, called atopy.
  • Children with eczema or food allergy are more likely than other children to develop asthma.
  • Medical history, chest X-ray, physical examination, LFT, and lab tests.
  • Salbutamol, levosalbutamol, and terbutaline are utilized in stopping asthma attacks.
  • Short courses of corticosteroid and other drugs (oral or injectable) may be required during acute attacks and are to be used after medical advice only.
