  • It is located near the Nepal border in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
  • The project comprises a 56 m high, 270 m long Concrete faced Rockfill Dam, with 6.5 m dia., 5.4 Km long headrace tunnel.
  • The underground powerhouse near Elagad with an installed capacity of 280 MW houses 4 units of 70 MW capacity each designed to operate under the rated head of 297 m and designed to generate 1134.69 million units in a 90% dependable year with 95% machine availability.
  • Unit I & II of the power station were commissioned in the month of Oct’2005, Sept’2005 respectively and both Unit III & Unit IV were commissioned in the month of July’2005.
  • With the construction of the project, the surrounding area has also been benefitted from the development of infrastructure, education, medical facilities, and employment avenues.
