According to the question,

No. of legs = 2x + 14

If the number of cows = y, then the number of cocks = (x - y)

4y + (x − y) x 2 = 2x + 14

⇒ 4y + 2x - 2y = 2x + 14

⇒ 4y - 2y = 14

⇒ 2y = 14 

⇒ y = 7

∴ The number of cows is 7.
