Correct Answer - Option 3 : Bugyal

The correct answer is Bugyal.

  • Bugyals
    • Bugyals are alpine pasture lands, or meadows, in a higher elevation range between 3,300 meters and 4,000 meters of the Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
    • The surface of these bugyals is covered with natural green grass and seasonal flowers.
    • They are used by tribal herdsmen to graze their cattle.
    • Some of the notable bugyals are Auli near Joshimath, Garsi, Kwanri, Bedni, Panwali Kantha and Kush Kalyan, Dayara, Bagji Bugyal, and Munsiyari.

  • Bhabar
    • It is a region south of the Lower Himalayas and the Shivalik Hills in Uttarakhand.
    • It is the alluvial apron of sediments washed down from the Shivaliks along the northern edge of the Indo-Gangetic Plain.
  • Tarai
    • The Terai is a lowland region in northern Indian and southern Nepal that lies south of the outer foothills of the Himalayas, the Sivalik Hills, and north of the Indo-Gangetic Plain.
    • This lowland belt is characterized by tall grasslands, scrub savannah, sal forests, and clay-rich swamps.
    • In northern India, the Terai spreads from the Yamuna River eastward across Haryana, Uttarakhand, UP, Bihar, and West Bengal.
    • A large number of small and usually seasonal rivers flow through the Terai, most of which originate in the Sivalik Hills.
  • Passes
    • A mountain pass is a navigable route through a mountain range or over a ridge.
    • Many of the world's mountain ranges have presented formidable barriers to travel while passes have played a key role in trade, war, and both human and animal migration throughout history.
    • At lower elevations, it may be called a hill pass.
