The correct answer is Central Government.

  • The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was launched by the Government of India on 25th December 2000.
  • Central Government was the funding authority for the Scheme and was introduced by the Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
  • The primary objective of the scheme was to provide excellent quality all-weather roads in all the rural areas where the roads connecting urban and rural areas are weak.
  • By the year 2007, all unconnected habitations with a population of more than 500 persons were provided connectivity under the scheme.
  • The scheme is under the authority of the Ministry of Rural Development and the current Rural Development Minister is Giriraj Singh.
  • In November 2015 on the recommendation of the 14th Finance Commission (N. k. Singh) the Yojana is funded by both the Central Government (60%) and State Government (40%).
