  • During the reign of Iltutmish, Genghis Khan came to the banks of the river Indus.

  • Shamsuddin Iltutmish (1211 AD-1236 AD):
    • He was a slave of Qutubuddin Aibak and occupied the throne of Delhi in 1211 AD after deposing Aram Bakhsh.
    • He was regarded as the ‘real founder of the Delhi Sultanate’.
    • He made Delhi the capital in place of Lahore.
