Correct Answer - Option 3 : 6

Given:

The number 2A01B is divisible by 72.

Concept:

Divisibility rule of 9 = If a number is divisible by 9, the sum of the digits of the number is also divisible by 9.

Divisibility rule of 8 = If the last three digits of a number are divisible by 8, then the number is also divisible by 8.

Calculation:

The last three digits are 01B.

To be divided by 8,

B = 6

To be divided by 9,

The sum of the digits of the number = (2 + A + 0 + 1 + 6)

⇒ The sum of the digits of the number = (9 + A)

The nearest number divisible by 9 is 9 itself.

9 + A = 9

⇒ A = 9 - 9

⇒ A = 0

The sum of the digits = 6 + 0

⇒ The sum of the digits = 6.

∴ The value of (A + B) is 6.
