  • Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC):-
    • The first line of the Delhi Metro, the Red Line, was inaugurated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India on 24 December 2002.
    • The first segment of the Red Line from Tis Hazari to Shahdara was opened to the public on 25 December 2002.
    • Subsequently, other stations were opened in phases, initially between Tis Hazari to Inderlok in 2003, then from Inderlok to Rithala in 2004 and a final eastern extension from Shahdara to Dilshad Garden in 2008.
    • As part of the Phase III plan, an eastward extension of 9.5 km from Dilshad Garden to Ghaziabad ISBT (New Bus Stand) was approved by the DMRC and the government in January 2014.
    • The construction of the Dilshad Garden to Ghaziabad ISBT line began in early 2015 and commercial operations started on 8 March 2019. 

  • The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) was registered on 3rd May 1995 under the Companies Act, 1956 with equal equity participation of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and the Central Government to implement the dream of construction and operation of a world-class Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS).
  • Presently, the Delhi Metro network consists of about 389 Km with 285 stations. The network has now crossed the boundaries of Delhi to reach NOIDA and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bahadurgarh, and Ballabhgarh in Haryana.
