Correct Answer - Option 1 :

Speed of train is increasing with time

Explanation:

  • A body is said to be accelerated if its speed or direction is changing with time.
  • The law of inertia says that the body does not changes its position unless an external unbalanced force is acting on it.
  • When the passenger tosses the coin in an accelerated train (increasing speed), then the train moves with more horizontal speed than the coin.
  • Hence, the train moves ahead and the coin falls behind.

The correct option is 'Speed of train is increasing with time.'

  • If the speed of the train has been decreasing, the coin will fall ahead.
  • If  the train is moving on a circular track, the coin would have been fallen in a different direction.
  • The Law of inertia is the first law of motion.
