Correct Answer - Option 4 : Electron microscope

The correct answer is Electron Microscope.

  • Electron microscope
    • It is a microscope that uses a beam of accelerated electrons as a source of illumination.
    • Electron Microscope has a higher resolving power than that of light microscopes and can reveal the structure of smaller objects.
    • Ernst Ruska along with Max Knoll built the first transmission electron microscope in 1931, for which Ruska was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1936.
    • It is used to investigate the ultrastructure of a wide range of biological and inorganic specimens including microorganisms, cells, large molecules, biopsy samples, metals, and crystals.

  • Microbes
    • Microbes are tiny living things that are found all around us and are too small to be seen by the naked eye.
    • They live in water, soil, and in the air.
    • The human body too is home to millions of these microbes, also called microorganisms.
    • The different types of microbes are Bacteria, Fungi, Protista, Viruses, Archaea.
  • Microscope
    • The microscope is an instrument that produces enlarged images of small objects, allowing the observer an exceedingly close view of minute structures.
    • The image of an object is magnified through at least one lens in the microscope.
    • This lens bends light toward the eye and makes an object appear larger than it actually is.
    • In 1590, two Dutch spectacle-makers and father-son team, Hans and Zacharias create the first microscope.
  • Laser
    • It is a device that stimulates atoms or molecules to emit light at particular wavelengths and amplifies that light typically producing a very narrow beam of radiation.
    • Theodore Maiman made the first laser operation in 1960.
    • Lasers have many uses:
      • It is used in precision tools and can cut through diamonds or thick metal.
      • It can also be designed to help in delicate surgeries.
      • It is also used in communications and in carrying TV and internet signals.
