Correct Answer - Option 2 : Gymnosperms

  • Plants can be classified into two types based on the presence or absence of seeds in their life cycle.
  1. Cryptogams: These are the non-seeded plants. Cryptogams can be further classified into vascular cryptogams & non-vascular cryptogams
  • Vascular cryptogams have vascular tissues xylem & phloem present. Example: Pteridophytes.
  • Non-vascular cryptogams do not have vascular tissues xylem & phloem. Examples: Algae, Bryophytes.

      2. Phanerogams: These are the seeded plants. They are also called ''spermatophytes''. It can be further divided into gymnosperms & angiosperms

  • Gymnosperms: These have seeds not surrounded by the ovary i.e. naked seeds 
  • Angiosperms: These have seeds surrounded by the ovary.
