Directions: Two quantities A and B are given in the following questions. You have to find the value to both A and B by using your knowledge of mathematics and choose the most suitable relation between the magnitude of A and B from the given options.

Quantity A - Distance between Ram and Shyam when Ram reaches the destination. Ram and Shyam run at 27.5 and 24 km / hr respectively. Ram reaches the destination 24 minutes earlier.

Quantity B - Find the sum of probabilities of getting at least 1 head when three coins are thrown and getting a sum of 5 or more when two dice are thrown.

1. Quantity A ≥ Quantity B
2. Quantity A ≤ Quantity B
3. Quantity A = Quantity B or no relationship can be established
4. Quantity A > Quantity B
5. Quantity A < Quantity B

Correct Answer - Option 5 : Quantity A < Quantity B

Quantity A -

Distance between them will be equal to relative speed multiplied by time.

Relative speed = 27.5 - 24 = 3.5 km / hr

Time = 24 minutes = 24 / 60 = 2 / 5 hours.

Distance = 3.5 × (2 / 5) = 1.4 km

Quantity B -

Probability of getting at least one head = 1 - probability of getting no heads.

When 3 coins are thrown, then can be 8 cases out of which only 1 case (T, T, T) will not have heads

Probability = 1 - 1 / 8 = 7 / 8 = 0.875

Probability of getting sum of 5 or more = 1 - probability of getting sum 4 or less.

Cases with sum 4 or less than 4 = (1, 1) (1, 2) (1, 3) (2, 1) (2, 2) (3, 1) = 6

Probability = 1 - 6 / 36 = 5 / 6 or 0.833

Quantity B - Sum = 0.875 + 0.833 = 1.708 approx.

Hence, Quantity A < Quantity B
