Correct Answer - Option 1 : 17.5

Given:

The median of 12,18, 31, 25, 6, 17, 9, 11, 21, 27 is x

Concept Used:

When the number of terms are even.

The Median is the average of two middle terms of a sorted list of numbers.

Calculation:

When we arrange 12,18, 31, 25, 6, 17, 9, 11, 21, 27 in ascending order as

6, 9, 11, 12, 17, 18, 21, 25, 27, 31

Then the middle numbers are 17 and 18

∴ Median = \( {17 + 18\ \over 2}\) = \( {35\ \over 2}\)= 17.5

∴ The value of x is 17.5

The median of a set of numbers is the middle number in the set (after the numbers have been arranged from least to greatest)

Or, if there is an even number of data, the median is the average of the middle two numbers

∴ The value of x is 17.5
