Correct Answer - Option 3 : 63 kg

Given

The average weight of 5 sailors increased by 2 kg.

When one of the crew whose weight 53 kg is replaced by a new man.

Formula Used

Sum of the observation = Average × No. of observations

Calculation

The increase in the average of 50 sailors = 2 kg

Total weight increased = 2 × 5 = 10 kg

Since the sailor weighting 53 kg has been replaced.

Weight of the new man = 53 + 10 = 63 kg

∴ 63 kg is the weight of the new man.
