CONCEPT:  

  • The Center of the mass of the body is the point that behaves as if the whole mass is concentrated there and all external forces are acting there
  • Mathematically center of mass can be written as the average position of all parts of the system, weighted according to their masses and the center of mass along the X-axis is given by 

\(CM = \frac{m_{1}x_{1}+m_{2}x_{2}+.....+m_{n}x_{n}}{m_{1}+m_{2}+......+m_{n}}\)

Where m1,m2 ......,mn =Masses , x1,x2, ......,xn = Position vectors 

EXPLANATION:

  • The center of mass is the point on the body that acts as if the entire mass is concentrated on the point. Hence, option 1 is the answer
