Correct Answer - Option 4 : Asking the learners,to enroll for tuition outside of school so that the teacher does not have to pay much attention to them

A social group establishing a positive inclination to inclusivity while fostering a feeling of oneness and a sense of belongingness in each of the members of the pluralistic society. It is the diversity that brings in the advocacy for equity and justice for each of the diverse persons in a group irrespective of their abilities, disabilities, social status, religion, class, caste, and so on and so forth.

Disadvantaged Learner-

  • The socially disadvantaged child is one who is from a socially and economically backward section of the community, who cannot profit from school because of deprivation of one sort or another. Such children show cumulative academic deficits, high dropout rate and progressive decline in intellectual functioning.
  • Some of the major causes are unstimulating environment, lack of verbal interaction with adults, poor sensory experience, poverty, low social status, malnutrition and broken homes.

Deprived Learner-

  • The term 'underprivileged' refers to the disadvantaged section of people who are economically, socially and vocationally in an unfavourable situation compared to the rest of the population of the society. Thus it is a relative term. They are underprivileged in relation to the middle class or upper-class people of their society. Educationists and social scientists have used many other terms such as 'deprived', 'psycho-socially deprived' 'culturally deprived', 'socioeconomically deprived', 'locationally deprived', etc.

Effective strategies to address learners from disadvantaged and deprived backgrounds-

  • Inclusive education is a movement to empower the vulnerable and marginalized groups to overcome the disadvantages of unequalized socialization.
  • The curriculum should to be specific and related to the needs and real-life experiences. Emphasis should be on learning manual skills, life skills and technical efficiency.
  • Sometime the teacher should talk to the learners to understand their needs and challenges faced by them.
  • Interest in learning has to be, created by the teacher, effort should be towards developing self-confidence, self-respect and a sense of cultural identity.
  • Form collaborative groups to work on activities and encourage students to support each other.
  • Motivate the students to set moderately challenging goals and provide appropriate instructional support.

Thus from above-mentioned points, it is clear that asking the learners, to enrol for tuition outside of school so that the teacher does not have to pay much attention to them is not an effective strategy.
