Correct Answer - Option 2 : L + S < P + Q

Explanation:

According to Grashoff’s law:

If S is the shortest link, L is the longest link and P and Q are two other links then two conditions can occur.

1. S + L ≤ P + Q (Class I mechanism)

  • The shortest link is fixed: Double crank Mechanism
  • Link opposite to shortest link is fixed: Double rocker mechanism
  • Link adjacent to the shortest link is fixed: crank rocker mechanism

2. S + L > P + Q (class II mechanism)

  • Always double rocker mechanism.
