Reports and drawings is prepared after conducting planning, engineering, preliminary and location survey for various routes before finalizing project routes.

Properties of detailed drawings are follows:

i) The detailed drawing showing contours, longitudinal sections, designs of structures, etc. follows following specification:

  • The contour interval is kept as 1 to 2 metres for plain country and 3 to 6 metres for hilly areas.
  • The longitudinal cross-sections are drawn with scale of 10 mm = 2 mm to 2.50 m and they are drawn every 100 m or where there are abrupt changes in level.
  • The detailed drawings for masonry works, buildings, etc. are prepared with a scale of 10 mm = 1 m.

ii) Index map:

It shows general topography and obligatory points of the country. They are generally drawn at scale of 1: 50000 (0.5 km to 1 cm horizontal).

iii) Key map:

It shows detailed of existing road networks and important intermediate places.

iv) Land plans:

These drawings are prepared from the survey maps for showing land acquisition details.

v) Preliminary survey plan:

These survey reveals material availability, approximate quantity of earthwork soil profile, etc.

It is also bears the details of various alternative alignments and they are usually prepared with a scale of 100 mm = 1 km to 250 mm = 1 km.
