Correct Answer - Option 4 : 40

Given:

Average of 5 numbers is 56

First number is 3/4th of sum of other four

Formula Used:

Average = sum of the elements/total no of elements

Calculation:

Let the sum of last four numbers be 4x

⇒ First number = 3x

Sum of all the elements = 4x + 3x = 56 × 5

⇒ 7x = 280

⇒ x = 40

∴ The average of the remaining four numbers = 4x/4 = x = 40
