Correct Answer - Option 2 : adapt instructional strategies based on the knowledge of developmental factors

A developmental perspective of teaching advocates that designing materials, making assignments, evaluating students' performance, counselling students (sometimes parents too), and maintaining discipline.

As a teacher, you have to constantly make decisions about teaching materials and methods. These decisions should be based on several factors which include the subject matter to be covered, the needs of the students, and the overall goals to be achieved.

A developmental perspective of teaching-

  • As an instructional expert, the teacher needs to devise practical and experiential methods for transacting the curriculum so that learners have a greater role and are more involved.
  • Methods like debates, discussions, role play, simulation tasks, brainstorming are oriented towards discovery rather than passive learning and emphasize development and adaptation of instruction to learner needs.
  • crate an open classroom where students experience the freedom to explore, experiment, share and express their needs, wishes, and desires
  • The learning styles approach tries to develop profiles for individual students and attempts to match instructional methods, curriculum offerings, etc. to learners' personal styles, enhancing student input and making the class conducive to effective teaching and learning.
  • have more elaborate systems of knowledge for analyzing problems in teaching
  • arrange lessons to enable students to gain insight and a heightened sense of awareness, coupled with the creation of an encouraging learning atmosphere that helps to realize their potential.

Thus from the above-mentioned points, it is clear that the Developmental perspective of teaching demands teachers to adapt instructional strategies based on the knowledge of developmental factors.
