  • He was the first and last Indian Governor-General of India after Independence( free India). Chakravarti Rajagopalachari was popularly known as Rajaji
  • Rajaji was a member of the Indian National Congress during the pre-independence era and a loyal supporter of Mahatma Gandhi.
  • He was born on 10th December 1878 in Madras state of Tamil Nadu. He was the author of the book "Environmentalism: A Global History".
  • Rajaji was an active participant in the Non-Cooperation Movement in 1920. He became the editor of Gandhi's newspaper name "Young India".
  • He incumbent the Governor-General position till 26th January 1950. He also holds the Chief Minister position during his political career he became the Chief Minister of Madras in April 1952.
