  • The needlelike, three-sided, rigid leaves are scattered along with the long shoots and clustered in dense tufts at the ends of short spurs.
  • Each leaf bears two resin canals and remains on the tree for three to six years.
  • The large, barrel-shaped, resinous female cones, greenish or purplish, are borne on short stalks. they are covered by broad, thin, closely overlapping woody scales, each with a clawlike projection.

Banyan tree:-

  • The national tree of India is the Banyan tree, designated formally as Ficus benghalensis.
  • It is often a focal point of human establishment owing to its expansive form and shade provided. The tree is often a symbol of the fabled ‘Kalpa Vriksha’ or the ‘Tree of Wish Fulfillment’ as it is associated with longevity and has important medicinal properties.
  • The very size of the banyan tree makes it a habitat for a large number of creatures. For centuries the banyan tree has been a central point for the village communities of India.
  • The banyan tree is massive not only from outside but it also sends new shoots from its roots, making the tree a tangle of branches, roots, and trunks.
  • The banyan tree towers magnificently over its neighbors and has the widest reaching roots of all known trees, covering several acres.
  • The life of the banyan tree is very long and is thought of as an immortal tree.

Maple Tree:-

  • Maple any of a large genus (about 200 species) of shrubs or trees in the family Sapindaceae, widely distributed in the North Temperate Zone but concentrated in China.
  • Maples constitute one of the most important groups of ornamentals for planting in lawns, along streets, and in parks.
  • They offer a great variety of form, size, and foliage; many display striking autumn colors.
  • Several yield maple syrup and some provide valuable, dense hardwood for furniture and other uses.
  • All maples bear pairs of winged seeds called samaras or keys.
  • The leaves are arranged oppositely on twigs. Many maples have lobed leaves, but a few have leaves separated into leaflets.
