Correct Answer - Option 3 : 25000

Given:

90 percent votes were valid

Winning candidate got 50 percent of valid votes and won by 4500 votes

Losing candidate got 30 percent of valid votes.

Calculation:

Let total voters be x

Valid votes = 90% of x = 0.9x

Number of votes winning candidate got = 50% of 0.9x = 0.45x

Numbers of votes losing candidate got = 30% of 0.9x = 0.27x

Difference in votes = 0.45x – 0.27x = 0.18x

0.18x = 4500

⇒ x = 4500/0.18

⇒ x = 25000

Total number of voters is 25000
