Correct Answer - Option 3 : 30%

Given:

Ram’s salary 60% more than Shayam’s salary

Ram got a raise of 25% on his salary

Shayam got raise of 40% on his salary

Concept:

If A is x% less than B

Than, x% = {(B – A)/B} × 100

Calculation:

60% = 3/5

Let Shayam’s salary = 500x

Than Ram’s = 800x

Ram’s salary after 25% raise = (800x) × (1 + 25/100)

⇒ (125/100) × 800x

⇒ 1000x

Shayam’s salary after 40% raise = (500x) × (1 + 40/100)

⇒ (140/100) × 500x

⇒ 700x

Ram’s salary – Shayam’s salary = 1000x – 700x

⇒ 300x

Percent of Shayam’s salary less than Ram’s salary = {(Ram’s salary – Shayam’s salary)/ Ram’s salary} × 100

Percent of Shayam’s salary less than Ram’s salary = (300x/1000x) × 100

⇒ 30%

∴ Shayam’s salary 30% less than the Ram’s salary.
