The correct answer is the Drug (Prices Control) Order (DPCO).

  • Under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, CDSCO is responsible for approval of Drugs, Conduct of Clinical Trials, laying down the standards for Drugs, control over the quality of imported drugs in the country and coordination of the activities of State Drug Control Organizations by providing expert advice with a view of bringing about the uniformity in the enforcement of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
  • ​Further CDSCO along with state regulators, is jointly responsible for the grant of licenses of certain specialized categories of critical Drugs such as blood and blood products, I. V. Fluids, Vaccine and Sera.​

  • The Essential Commodities Act (ECA), 1955 controls the production, supply and distribution of, and trade and commerce in, certain goods such as vegetables, pulses, edible oils, sugar etc. which are treated as essential commodities.
  • In India, the prices of pharmaceutical drugs are being controlled through the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and Drug (Prices Control) Order (DPCO).
  • The DPCO 2013 has an aim to make drugs affordable for the citizens of the country.
