Given :

Rahul is 10 years younger than Gautam 

After 10 years the ratio of age of Rahul to Gautam will be 2 : 3

Calculations :

Let the present age of Rahul be x 

⇒ The present age of Gautam is x + 10 

After 10 years age of Rahul will be (x + 10) years

After 10 years age of Gautam will be (x + 10 + 10) = (x + 20) years

According to the question,

(x + 10) : (x + 20) = 2 : 3 

\(⇒ {x + 10 \over x + 20} = {2 \over 3}\)

⇒ 3x + 30 = 2x + 40

⇒ x = 10

∴ Present age of Rahul is 10 years
