Wavelength of first medium =λ₁ 

Refractive index of first medium = n₁ 

Let the wavelength of second medium = λ₂, 

Refractive index of second medium = n₂ 

Light enters from first medium to second medium 

⇒ n₂/n₁ = c₁/c₂ = λ₁/λ₂ (∵ υ = const) 

⇒ λ₂ = λ₁n₁/n₂
