(a) the molecular plane

(b) a plane parallel to the molecular plane

Best answer

Correct option  (a) the molecular plane

Explanation:

this p-bond is formed by side ways overlapping of two p-orbitals of two C-atoms. These p-orbitals are perpendicular to the plane containing ethane molecule, therefore, molecular plane does not have any r-electron density and nodal plane lies along the molecular plane for p-electrons.
