Mode = l + \(\frac{f_1+f_0}{2f_1-f_0-f_2}\times h\)

 = 40 + \(\frac{17-12}{34-12-4}\times 10\)

 = 40 + \(\frac5{18}\) x 10

 = 40 + \(\frac{25}{9}\)

 = 40 + 2.78

 = 42.78
