In a class of 35 students, 17 have taken Mathematics, 10 have taken Mathematics but not Economics. If each student has taken either Mathematics or Economics or both, then the number of students who have taken Economics but not Mathematics is:

Step -1: Draw Venn diagram.

Step -2: Finding number of students in only economics

It is given that, 17 have taken mathematics and 10 have taken only mathematics,

∴ Number of students in mathematics and economics both = 7

Now, total number of students = 35

⇒ Number of students in economics = 35 - 10 = 25

Out of 25, 7 have taken both Mathematics and Economics

⇒ Number of students in only economics = 25 - 7 = 18
