When Mary was just 15, she witnessed the warm welcome and grand felicitation of Dingko Singh. He was a boxer of Mary’s state who had come back with a gold medal from the Asian Games in Bangkok. She was greatly motivated and she decided to become a boxer. The prime reason, was to lead her farming-dependent family towards a better livelihood. The other strong reason was to prove those people wrong who said very discouraging remarks about her with her success in the field of boxing.
