The correct option is (A) a.

Explanation:

Photodiodes are operated in reverse bias. During reveres bias, reverse saturation current is due to minority currier is very small. When light is incident, the fractional increase in minority charge carrier concentration is significant and is easily measurable. And this fractional change in minority carrier is more than change in majority carries. Hence both statements are true and reason is correct explanation of assertion.
