National Technology Day : The historical day of India’s first successful nuclear test at Pokhran.
The whole country celebrates the National Technology Day on the 11th day of May, in remembrance of the historical day of India’s first successful nuclear test at Pokhran. The celebration is a mark of achievement and a way to recognize the effort and to inspire the upcoming generations to take up science and technology. Five nuclear tests were done at Pokhran in the project code name ” Operation Shakti,” under the leadership of one of the greatest and brightest aerospace engineers and the former President of India, Late APJ Abdul Kalam.
The celebration of National Technology Day is not only about nuclear testing, rather a way to recognize and spread awareness among the youth about the importance of science and technology in our everyday life and its impact. The day celebrates the effort of all the engineers, the scientists, the soldiers, and their sacrifices, and the hardship. The 11th day of May is a prideful day for the entire nation.
The day is celebrated around the nation to inspire the youth to share learnings from the past. The first National Technology Day was celebrated on the 11th day of May, in the year 1999.
On this very day, an Indian made short-range missile Trishul, was successfully test-fired. The achievements on the 11th day of May were truly exceptional and noteworthy, and it made India stand out in the global arena.
