Since, 2/3 is one root of the quadratic equation 6x2 – x – k = 0

6 × (2/3)2−2/3 – k = 0

⇒ 6 × 4/9 − 2/3 – k = 0

⇒ 8/3 − 2/3 – k = 0

⇒ 6/3 – k = 0

⇒ 2 – k = 0

⇒ k = 2
