How to select a contiguous group of cells?

To select adjacent cells, use any of the following methods.

Method 1: Using the Name Box

1. Click on the Name Box.

2. Type the cell reference of the starting cell and the ending cell separated by a colon in the Name Box. For example, to select cells A3 to A10, type A3:A10 in the Name Box.

3. Press Enter to select the cells.

For example, as shown in the figure, typing A1:D1 in the Name Box selects the cells in the specified range i.e. A1,B1,C1,D1.

Method 2: By Dragging

1. Place the cursor in the starting cell.

2. Holding down the left mouse button, drag the mouse over the area which is to be selected.
