Show that x = -3 is a solution of equation 2x2 + 5x - 3 = 0.

Put x = -3 in the equation.

2(−3)2 + 5(−3) − 3 = 0

18 − 15 − 3 

18 − 18

= 0

Therefore, x = -3 is the solution of the equation.
