Chandigarh : Chandigarh was built during Late Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru’s administration and famous French Architect Le Corbusier designed the city.
India’s first planned city, Chandigarh was built by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. It was formed on 1st November in the year of 1966. This city is the capital of two Indian states, Punjab and Haryana and is a Union Territory and thus governed by the federal government.
Chandigarh has gotten its name from the temple, “Chandi Mandir” which means “Goddess Chandi’s fortress”, located in the city. The city is also famous for its prehistoric past. The fossils of the ancient past can be seen excavated now and then.
The city is famous for its blend of modern life and nature. Located in the foothills of the Shivaliks, the backdrop of the city is serene and beautiful. Some notable tourist destinations will be– Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Bird Sanctuary, Leisure Valley are amongst many other beautiful places.
