Assertion and reason are given in following questions each question has four options one of them is correct select it. 

(a) Both assertion and reason are true and the reason is correct reclamation of the assertion. 

(b) Both assertion and reason are true, but reason is not correct explanation of the assertion. 

(c) Assertion is true, but the reason is false. 

(d) Both, assertion and reason are false. 

Assertion: A series combination of cells is used when their internal resistance is much smaller than the external resistance. 

Reason: It follows from the relation I = {(nE) / (R + nr)} Where the symbols have their standard meaning.

The correct option (a) Both assertion and reason are true and the reason is correct reclamation of the assertion.

Explanation:

I = {nE / (R + nr)} ---- current drawn by circuit (series) 

I' = {E / (R + r)} ---- current drown by single cell 

when r << R then 

I = (nE / R) & I' = (E/R) 

i.e. I = nI' 

i.e. current drawn from series combination is n times highs than current drawn from a single cell 

Hence reason is correct explanation of assertion.
