Two bulbs, one of 200 W and the other of 100 W, are connected in series with a 100 V battery which has no internal resistance. Then,

(A) the current passing through the 200 W bulb is more than that through the 100 W bulb.

(B) the power dissipation in the 200 W bulb is more than that In the 100 W bulb.

(C) the voltage drop across the 200 W bulb is more than that across the 100 W bulb.

(D) the power dissipation In the 100 W bulb is more than that in the 200 W bulb.

Correct option: (D) the power dissipation In the 100 W bulb is more than that in the 200 W bulb.

Explanation:

Bulbs are connected in series and resistance of 100 W is greater then that of 200 watt.

In series, P = I2R (Here I is constant)

So, P ∝ R

So, power of 100 W will be greater in the combination.
