What are waxes in biochemistry?

It is a simple lipid, which is an ester of a long-chain alcohol and a fatty acid. It is found in nature as coatings on leaves and stems.

It is used to make wax paper, impregnating and coating paper stems. and card to make it waterproof or make it resistant to staining or modify its surface properties.
